Pinkerton Pain Therapy 

Drink plenty of fluids the day and night before your procedure to avoid dehydration on the day of your procedure.

The day of your procedure: Do not eat any solid foods or dairy products fro at least 6 (six) hours prior to your procedure.

You may, however, have clear liquids including water, clear juice, broth, Jell-O, tea, or black coffee up until 2(two) hours prior to your procedure.

Please take your daily medications as usual unless you are taking blood thinners or diabetic medications as listed below.  IF YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION YOU MAY BE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT. Please bring your medication bottles with you to your procedure.

If you are taking ANY BLOOD THINNERS such as Coumadin (warfarin, jatoven), Plavix, Ticlid, Pletal, Effient, Lovenox, Heparin, or Aggrenox please make sureyou have received and are following the proper instructions for stopping your medication and obtaining the necessary lab testing prior to your procedure.  IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.

If you are diabetic and are using insulin or taking oral diabetic medication please make sure you have received the proper instructions for the use of this medication while fasting.  IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.

If you are receiving ANY injection from Dr. Pinkerton, you are required to have someone drive you home.  This also applies to those who have tolerated injections in the past without any problems.  This is for your safety and the safety of other drivers and passengers.  IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
